You've got questions? We've got answers.

The non-puking streak ended this morning, unfortunately, when I threw up in the shower because I had forgotten to take my Zofran as soon as I got up, and the heat got to me. I had a good five-day run without vomiting, so that's still pretty good. I'm feeling mostly okay today, just very tired.

Today I'll answer some of the questions that people almost always seem to ask when they find out you're pregnant.

1. When are you due?
Approximately February 6.

2. Have you had morning sickness?
Is water wet? I think I've answered that one sufficiently in previous posts.

3. Are you going to find out if it's a boy or a girl?
Yes, we're going to find out if the baby cooperates and gives us a peek at 20 weeks.

4. Do you have names picked out?
We do have names picked out, but we've chosen to keep those secret until the birth. We'll tell everyone the sex but would like to keep something else a surprise.

5. Are you going to breastfeed?
That's a pretty personal question, but one that people still don't hesitate to ask for some reason. I've obviously never done it before, so I can't say how it will go, but I'll give it my best shot. I'm not sure what I will choose to do once I return to work.

6. When are you going to start maternity leave? How much time are you going to take off work?
As of right now, I'm planning to work up until I have the baby to ensure as much time at home afterwards. This, of course, assumes that I have no complications that force me to take time off beforehand. I will take my full 12 weeks.

7. Are you going to get an epidural?
Can I go ahead and get one now so it's all ready to go when it's time?

Good Luck on keeping the name secret. :) We also had that plan and wanted something to be a surprise with Ethan. But once you start referring to the baby by his/her name in the privacy of your home, the chances of it slipping out multiply. We started calling Ethan by his name when he was still in the belly. Clinton was talking with his sister on the phone and said something about "Ethan." I was in the kitchen, heard him and came running into the room. Meanwhile, his sister started screeching in his ear, she was so excited. Clinton was so confused about the commotion, he did not even realize he had said Ethan's name. Of course, it was not fair to keep it secret if one person knew, so we told everyone.

We decided on both of our kids names on the way to the hospital. We were so lazy in name picking that it was last minute with both of them. We both had names in mind but couldn't agree on a single one so I let Tim pick both the kids names en route to the hospital. As far as the question about breastfeeding goes, I had the clerk at the mall at the Motherhood store ask me if I was going to breast feed. WHAT?!? If she is not my doctor, midwife or nurse, it ain't none of her business! She scoffed at me when I wouldn't answer her. She said, all of our customers have to answer a questionnaire when they buy something here, I thought, "not me buddy!" and left the store. HOW RUDE! Anyway, whatever you decide to do it's your business and best of luck to you no matter what you do. Believe me the next 7 months are going to be filled with VERY personal questions, don't let anyone sway your judgment stick to your guns. If you want an epidural, have one. If you want to keep the names private, do so. If you wanna breast feed or bottle feed go ahead! My doctor made a very good point, all babies eventually go on the bottle. Noone breast feeds for 12 months. Children usually do not breastfeed until they are 12 months old and go on whole milk so do what you are comfortable with. Hey, isn't this YOUR baby? Nobody has the right to tell you what to do or how to do with your baby or it's upbringing. I was ready to scream by the time I had Austin because of all the misguided and WRONG information that I had heard for the previous 9 months. Do what you feel is right and as long as the baby and you are happy, that's all that counts. Sorry for the rant I just remember how it was being pregnant and hearing day in and day out what worked for someone else's child and blah blah blah. I just want to prepare you for certain things and you should never second guess yourself. Hugs to you! I miss you!

Oh yeah and also be ready for the mom who's kid does everything at record speed. I worked with one girl who no matter when your child did something (sat up, crawled, walked) her kid did it like 2 weeks before that and therefore she was the superior mother and ruler of the planet. I dreaded talking to her because her kids were so perfect. She was bragging one day about how her son was walking and he was only 9 months, then her husband brought the baby to work that night and he was still in the little teeny tiny baby carrier car seat that they are only supposed to be in for the first 6 months or so until they can sit independently. I said, "yeah Wendy, your son is really walking!" She had no answer for me. My kids did stuff when they felt like it. Shoot I have a 3 1/2 year old who still wears Pull Ups to bed. Wonder what Wendy would think about that?
